National Task Force

On 24th March 2025, The Honourable Supreme Court of India emphasized the urgent need to address mental health concerns among students in higher education institutions.

The Honourable Supreme Court of India constituted a National Task Force under the Chairpersonship of Justice (Retired) S. Ravindra Bhat. The Task Force includes experts from various domains.

Its mandate is to deliberate on student mental health issues, recommend preventive measures to reduce student suicides, and strengthen support systems across higher educational institutions.
NTF-RJTCC was constituted in October 2025 and has since worked continually towards creating platforms towards the mental wellness of the students.

2025-26

  • As a debut, Movie Masti and the NTF -RJTCC screened Chal Man Jeetva Jaiye ,a Gujarati movie on 28th December 2025. A financial crisis faced by a family opens a number of questions on Ethics, Family ties and Mental Wellness.The screening was followed by discussions.
  • A poster making competition was arranged by the CWDC and NTC of RJTCC on Mental
    Wellness on December 2, 2025.The students were given a free hand with language and creative content. The event was judged by Prof P. N. Suchak and Prof. Rashmi Gupta who selected the 3 best entries.

 

  • NTF-RJTCC organized a Writing Competition -Scribbles in the last week of December for the students. The topics ranged from the concept of Happiness to Favourite Memories. The competition was judged by Dr. Mukesh S Prajapati, Associate Professor, Sardar Vallabhbhai Arts College and Honorary Coordinator at Department of Psychology Gujarat University and Dr. T. U. Dhruv Head (Retired) Department of English and Communication Skills, RJTCC. Out of the participants 4 best entries were awarded.
    Congratulations to all winners.
  • As part of the initiative to promote physical and mental wellness, R. J. TIBREWAL Commerce College established a Glocal Cycle Club. Celebrating Christmas with fitness, fellowship and festivities the members completed a cycleothon. The ride was about 20 km. Starting from the college, the ride ended at Vastrapur Lake.

  • Prutha Patel, a student of T. Y. B.Com and NTF volunteer conducted a survey Scrolling and Self: How Digital Life Impacts Youth Productivity, Lifestyle and Emotional Wellbeing. The survey held in January 2026 had respondents in the age bracket of 13 to 22 years. The questions ranged from screen time to impact of views and trolling. The survey indicated that though an intrinsic part of the youth Life, Digital Life increases risks at both physical and mental levels and has quietly taken away the ability to be fully present, independent thinking, genuine human connection, privacy and sleep quality.
  • An orientation cum felicitation program was organised by the NTF-RJTCC on 5th January 2026.Principal Dr. C. J. Trivedi spoke on the need and solutions on mental wellness. He emphasized the need for self-confidence and self-development as the right path to wellness The winners of the poster making competition held in November and Scribbles the writing competition held in December were felicitated with trophies and certificates.
    All volunteers were awarded certificate.
  • Movie Masti, the movie club of RJTCC and NTF-RJTCC screened "Chhichore' on 10th January 2026. The movie, about a middle-aged father who reunites with his college friends under tragic circumstances, explores parental and peer pressure, anxiety, fear of failure and need for resilience.
    The movie was followed by a discussion on these issues.
  • To relieve students of stress of exam, NTF-RJTCC organised a one day workshop on Dance for Mental Wellness on 11th April 2026 where more than 50 students participated enthusiastically.
    Conducted by Nilesh Makwana,the workshop specifically introduced simple steps,clapping,jumping and moving with music to release endorphins.
    Participants found this simple yet effective method of stress relief very helpful and suggested more such sessions.
  • In the sustained pursuit of a holistic approach to Wellness of the students a number of programs,workshops and seminars are arranged regularly by different clubs and committes of RJTCC. In the last month, specially, Yog,Pranayam,Dance,Music activities have been conducted to prepare students to maintain a stress-free mind during exams.
    On 17thApril 2026, a yoga workshop was conducted for around 20 students to acquaint them with breathing techniques
  • The NTF -RJTCC held a photography competition titled My Campus My Joy in February. Students captured various moods, moments and memories that made the campus a vibrant interactive space for physical and mental wellness. The best two entries: (1) Ashish Parmar (2) Krisha Chotaliya were judged the best by the judges, Dr. C. J. Trivedi and Dr. J. B. Shah.
